Points, Lines, and Angles
We started our Geometry unit today by creating our Point, Lines, and Angles foldable. They will use this throughout the unit. I explained to the students today, we will not measure angles in fourth grade. But, we will have to identify angles within a 2D figure. As well as identify parallel and perpendicular lines within 2D figures.
Open House
Thank you to all who attended Open House. I hope you enjoyed the math and science stations. How did you do playing Are You Smarter Than A 4th Grader? Don't forget to keep practicing the Think Through Math online math program. You should have received your child's user name and login at Open House.

Time
Please practice telling time. The students need to be able to read an analogue clock. In fourth grade, we focus on elapsed time. The students will be given either a start time, end time, or how long the event lasted. The students have to solve for the missing information. If they do not understand the concept of time, they will struggle with elapsed time.
Please check the links for more practice. Johnnie's Math Page and Virtual Library has good activities.

Soil's Ability to Retain Water
We are continuing on our quest to learn all the properties of soil. Today we tested a soil's ability to retain water. We put soil samples in 4 different beakers using knee highs to hold the soil. We added 200mL of water and then waited one minute. We lifted the sample and read the amount of water remaining in the water. Then, we had to do math in SCIENCE.
